In general, the media concentrates on the major sports which therefore need do very little to receive publicity. It is sad, but a fact of life these days. Apparently the majority of readers, viewers and listeners want a feast of rugby, cricket, netball, league and golf.
So it is imperative that other sports promote and pester the media.
Never get into a situation where an editor or reporter can say " I didn't know about it".Make sure they know about your key event in plenty of time.
Advise every media outlet about a visiting star, a possible record, something unique, something sexy.
Think outside the square. Think as an editor or reporter who is looking for something a bit different, a bit exciting.
It is a test worth taking.
