Juniors are really getting into our sport but alot of our junior clubs are run by 1 or 2 poeple.
If you are looking for some help here's one idea that may help.
1) Work out how many sessions you have a year for your club and divide by 3. This is how many parents you will need to help out.
2) Hold a parent / junior day inviting all the parents down to play with their child so you can get to know them.
3) Let the parents know you are looking for some help with the club
4) Approach them one on one - not in a group - and ask if they can spare just 3 sessions a year. Emphasise it is to help the club and their children be stronger and more secure so it is not dependent on just 1 or 2 people.
5) The key is to organise a roster so that they will not have to over commit.
6) Appoint someone to call each person 1 week before their duty.
7) Write out a small list of things the parent will need to know to help and do the duty properly.
Most people are keen to help out especially if there is a plan and they won't have to commit too much time.
Another tip that might help - if one person is always having to open up at club try putting a key in a secure box with combination lock or storage area near the club so that once volunteers have the combination they can access the key regularly.
